¡Ask A Mexican! reading and book signing

{open} is having a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, and they have invited Gustavo Arellano to read from his very funny, politically-incorrect book, Ask a Mexican (It was also a column in the OC Weekly). He has angered many people with his tongue in cheek explanation of what a Mexican is. He gives very simple (funny) answers to some complex issues which can be problematic. Many activist do not support Mr. Arellano, but I will quote Hasta Los Gatos Quieren Zapatos and say “revolution needs moments of levity and surely we are strong enough to cope with the teasing.” I understand how diverse Mexicans are and I know that there is not one all-defining-truth. I do not take his point of view seriously, so I am able to laugh at his silly joke. His book does have some interesting facts too.
There will be food and drinks. RSVP here.
