Send this letter for the Summer Night Lights Program to guillermo.cespedes@lacity.org,
May 2010
Dear Mr. Guillermo Cespedes,
This letter is written to request that Wilmington be considered for the Summer Night Lights Program. I am a concerned Wilmington resident that sees the elevated crime in our community amongst our youth. By having the Summer Night Lights Program we will help eliminate the crime, drug dealing, and gang activity that is prone to happen in our local parks during the night. We want to make sure that during our summer, which is coming up very soon, our youth will be occupied in productive activities. Please consider our city of Wilmington to be on your priority list, and bring the Summer Night Lights program to us. Thank you very much for your attention in this matter.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Wilmington Resident
Send this letter for the Summer Youth Employments to larry.frank@lacity.org,
May 2010
Dear Mr. Larry Frank,
This letter is written to request that Wilmington be considered for Summer Youth Employments. I feel that having jobs for our children during the summer will diminish the delinquency amongst our youth. I want to make sure that our children are preoccupied physically and mentally. Please support me in providing employment for our children. By doing so, it will keep our children busy during the summer and trained for some future job. Thank you very much for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Wilmington Resident

I agree 100%! Especially since a lot of people seem to not understand the fact that we begin to target at the wrong age group, we need to start thinking the way the gang mind thinks and thats to target the young impressionable not yet rebellious, but neglected (for whatever reason: two working parents, single parent, family already in turmoil over gangs), elementary school aged children. Thats right elementary school: Not even 3 weeks ago, two elementary school kids were threatening one of my son's friends, our neighbor that they were going to "shank" him and were coaxing my son and the other boys asking them: "Do you Want me to beat him, or "shank" him?" Now, of course the boys all replied "neither!" and said the boys had a very large knife. Now Just so you understand what I'm getting at, 3 days after that my sons both saw the same boys, and they started to intimidate another boy, When one of them said to the other: "Stop! Hurry here comes my mom!" And the two boys ran to meet her, This tells me a couple of things 1. Mom has no idea what her boy is up to. 2. He can still be saved from the clutches of the monster that steals the innocence, pride and ambition and dreams of the young child. The monster we call GANGS!!
sorry it was so long but it needed to be known
