The new Boys and Girls Club opened in October 2008. The center has a computer room, college preparatory room, music room, dance studios and student-run cafe. The center was a 3.5 million dollar project. It was a much needed remodeling which will definitely help the youth of Wilmington.

As a way to encourage more students to join, the club plans to offer bus service five days a week from Banning High School and Wilmington Middle School. Another thing keeping kids away is the fee, $25 dollars. It can be difficult for a single mom or a large family to pay $25 dollars for each child. I called and asked about scholarships but they have yet to set up a scholarship fund. Hopefully, we can make the club accessible and affordable for everyone.
